One Last Push to the Goal Line
What an offseason we have had as Jaguar fans and supporting our team through ticket sales. We have seen everyone, from individuals to the largest companies in Jacksonville, make the clear statement that this is OUR Town and OUR Team, and that there will never be another name in front of Jaguars other than Jacksonville. There have been a record amount of new tickets sold, highest renewal rate in the history of the franchise and to top it all off, EverBank, a Jacksonville company, has put their name on the stadium. This latest news makes another strong statement from the business community and the Weavers that Jacksonville is a long term NFL market. With all this said, we still are not finished. We have 13 more days, August 21st, to sell 4000 more season tickets. I need every Team Teal Captain and Team Teal Member to make that one last big push to get us across the goal line. It reminds me of the big goal line moments I had as a player. We had worked so hard to get the ball down the field and we needed to dig deep one last time to score the touchdown. There was nothing worse than marching it down the field only to be turned away from scoring a TD! We will not be denied in reaching our goal, every game on TV this year!

6500 to go! Let's keep up the momentum!
It has been too long since I have last blogged, and for that I apologize. As I look back over the last 5 ½ months of our Team Teal journey, I couldn’t be more pleased and proud of how the Jaguars Fan base has responded, especially all those who have become team captains on Team Teal. While we haven’t reached our goal yet and still need to have the pedal to the metal in our efforts, selling over 12,000 new season tickets in the general bowl and helping the Jaguars reach almost a 90% renewal rate on season tickets is an accomplishment that every one of you should be proud of. In the coming months, as the season approaches quickly, it is imperative that all of us on Team Teal renew our commitment to making sure every game is on TV in Jacksonville next year. We need to sell approximately 6500 more season tickets by the opening week of the season. So my charge to all Team Teal captains and members is to get the message out that Jacksonville is OUR city and the Jaguars are OUR team!!!

JAGS ARE PREPARING FOR THE DRAFT - LET'S STEP UP THE PACE
We are just a month away from the 2010 NFL draft and watching the Jaguars add more key pieces to our team as they prepare for a playoff year. I know General Manager Gene Smith and his team are working long hours to find the right type of player and person that will add to our team. They are scrubbing hours of film and doing the proper due diligence to insure that prospects are not only good players, but they have the right kind of character that will make us proud of our Jaguars on and off the field. As the Jaguars do their work to prepare for next year, all of the Team Captains need to step it up to another level in our preparations for the upcoming season to ensure our team has a full stadium and every game is televised next year. Each of us needs to make sure that we continually share our excitement with all our friends, family, co-workers and anyone else we influence. Remember this is our city and our team!!!

Keep the momentum going
Last week was great for Team Teal. We had a couple of Chamber meetings and the big pep rally/party in Clay County, where over 500 people showed up to get involved in the movement that will help fill the stadium next year. Thanks, Clay County, for all of your enthusiasm and special thanks to Clay County Commissioner Travis Cummings for coordinating the rally! This week we will continue with the road tour with our Team Teal event at Queens Harbor. We need to continue getting the word out to more and more people about the Team Teal movement and the importance of our Jaguars to our city. With another story out in the news this week-end about Los Angeles getting a team, we need to step up our game and show the nation that it won’t be our Jags. I also want everyone to know that if you can get a group of people together, 50 plus, we (most likely me) will come out and do a Team Teal event.
Also, for those team captains and members wanting to order business cards to facilitate their outreach, an online store will be launched over the next couple of weeks from the myteamteal website where you will be able to purchase cards and banners. Only team members and captains will be able to order from the online store.
Keep up the great work!!
Go Jags!!!!!!!!!!!

Team Teal is on a roll!
We started strong this week with a great Team captain meeting at Hotel
Indigo at Tapestry Park and ended it with a strong Team Teal showing at Shands.
Lots of enthusiasm – all week! There were over 80 Team Captains at our Monday
night meeting where we gave away prizes and gave ticket updates. I love the passion of the Jaguar fans that
have stepped up to be Team Captains. We
will all be a part of the movement that makes sure every game next year and
every year will be on local TV. It
is important as we enter month two of the Team Teal movement to keep up the
momentum that has been created. Team
Captains, we have to step up our game and get our friends involved and signed
up. Remember it is our team and our
city!

Championship Weekend
I had a great weekend watching the NFL championship games,
especially the Viking/Saints game.
Seeing our ex-Jaguar, and my good friend, Mark Brunell hold the winning
kick and realize he was going to the Super Bowl was great. With only one game left in the NFL season it
is time to get ready for the off season and here in Jacksonville it is going to
be a great off season. Gene Smith and
his staff are in Mobile, Al this week working hard at the Senior Bowl to find
us the next great Jaguar and Team Teal is hard at work moving toward our goal
of having every game on TV next year.
Team Teal has had a great first month and has good momentum heading into
February. We are having our first Team
Captain meeting this coming Monday, February 1st at the Indigo Hotel. We will give updates where we are with ticket
sales at the meeting.

What a day!
Wow what a big day for Team Teal yesterday! It started with two great
meetings in Clay County, one with business and political leaders, then with the
Clay County Chamber of Commerce. We had a great response and I think we will add
several team captains and team members for Team Teal from Clay County. It’s
important that we involve lots of people beyond Jacksonville if we want to make
our goal, and we WILL make our goal! The day ended with a Team Teal meeting at
Queens Harbor Country Club, where two great Jag fans got all their Jag fans
friends together for a dinner and a presentation about our plan to fill the
stadium for next year and years to come. We have great momentum right now but we
can’t let up until we reach our goal. Team Teal members get you friends
involved, go to the local businesses you support and encourage them to get
involved. We will succeed!!!

It's all about passion
This weekend I was in Indianapolis broadcasting the Colts/Raven playoff game
for Westwood One radio. From the broadcast booth I looked out over the Lucas
Field crowd and saw a full house of crazed Colts fans. I realize this was a
playoff game and when we have our next home playoff game in Jacksonville it will
be the same, but I believe we can and should have that atmosphere every NFL
Sunday here is Jacksonville. The atmosphere was like that when I played and it
is why I am leading Team Teal now…to see the passion for our team, the Jaguars.
We can and will do this Team Teal! Remember this is our town and our team!

Looking for help
Our event Tuesday night reminded me all over again why I have such faith in
Jaguar fans and the people of Jacksonville. And, the support and enthusiasm
renewed my excitement for what Jacksonville has with this franchise. I KNOW we
will be successful as long as Team Captains and Team Teal members press forward
until we reach our goal -- every home game on television in Jacksonville until
the end of the season. The response told me that if we all do our part, success
can be Jacksonville's!
Yesterday, I met with a small business owner in Jacksonville who agreed to
come on board as a Teal Team Captain and use his small business to promote the
effort. We need more businesses - big, small and in between - to step up and
make tis a priority. We are all busy and sometimes all of these commitments can
seem overwhelming but I know if we each do our part - success will absolutely
follow.
If you need help getting organized or need me to be with you at an event,
call 630-2800 and I'll do my best to make it happen!
GO JAGS!

The true beginning
Well, after many weeks of planning and preparing, this is the true beginning
of our drive to build enthusiasm and fan support for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I
believe this is a critical mission for our city and our team. When I'm out and
around in Jacksonville and even when I'm broadcasting in other cities, I am
asked why I agreed to head this effort when I have a young family and am trying
to build a business. The reason is simple- keeping the Jacksonville Jaguars in
Jacksonville is too important not to do it. The Jaguars have been good to me and
good to our city. Our owners have been amazing by stepping in to help when help
is needed, the team is building a great legacy in the greater Jacksonville area
and it makes good business sense. Data has shown over and over that communities
with NFL teams are just more dynamic than those without.
Over the coming weeks you will be hearing about great ways to get involved
and support the team while having lots of good times. Building fan support by
establishing teams and competing for prizes and awards is the backbone of this
effort and I urge everyone to get on board. Just like in football, teamwork is
everything if you want to be a winner.
Feel free to email with questions or comments about how we're doing and what
we can do better. I look forward to having each and every one of you on my Team
Teal. In the meantime, Go Jags!

Getting rolling
Some days I wake up and wonder why I have taken on the challenge of leading
Team Teal when I'm so busy starting a new business, the radio show and family.
But then I remember how important being a part of the Jaguars family is to me
and how important supporting the Jaguars is to Jacksonville. Yes, this is a
challenge and it may seem to some like an overwhelming challenge. But, like
others in this city, I have never backed away from a challenge and I'm not
planning to start now. Jacksonville and the Jaguars have come a long way
together - from the initial excitement of being awarded an NFL franchise, to
some great players, community role models and exciting seasons to the excitement
of hosting Super Bowl XXXIX. Now the team needs us to step up and show our
support.
Today I'm off to broadcast the Arizona game by way of New Orleans. New
Orleans, you say? Yep - my buddy Mark Brunell and I set off on a road trip from
Jacksonville to Louisiana. I'll drop him off for the New Orleans Saints game and
I'll head west. Shoud be a great week-end of football!
I'll be blogging on a semi regular basis so be sure to check back so I can
report to you "from the inside" of Team Teal keeping you up to date on the
latest happenings . Go Team Teal!
